I am thankful for friends, especially one exceptional friend, Trevor Raab. Instead of driving a direct route of over 18.5 hours from Chicago to Victoria, TX, we decided to take a different approach.
We had spent three weeks in the summer cycling all over Chicago and Glen Arbor, MI, and we were thrilled with the opportunity of new adventures. A couple days after Christmas, I picked up Trevor and his bike from O’Hare airport. Our first objective was to do as much driving the full first day to put us south enough for warmer temperatures; that same day, Chicago was hit with its first real snowstorm of the year. We didn’t have an exact course we would take, only a couple cities and state parks were on our list. That was enough.
I can’t imagine a better way to end 2015 and bring in the new year than with a dear friend, bicycles, photographs, camping, local food, and new places to explore.
